The teacher will inspire students to explore and apply design principles, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills to real-world challenges, fostering creativity and independent thinking within a safe, hands-on learning environment.Nationality Requirement:UK / European passport holders preferredQualifications Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Design Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or related field (obtained via face-to-face study)PGCE Certificate (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – for UK applicantsSACE Registration – for South African applicantsExperience:Minimum 2 years of experience teaching Design Technology at the secondary level in a British curriculum schoolExperience in using tools, machinery, and CAD/CAM software safely and effectivelyInternational teaching experience (preferred)Key Responsibilities:Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Design Technology across Key Stages 3 to 5Foster innovation, technical understanding, and design thinking among studentsTeach a range of specialisms such as product design, resistant materials, engineering, and digital designGuide students in safe and correct use of workshop tools and equipmentManage and maintain the design technology lab/workshop to high safety standardsAssess, track, and report on student progress regularlyContribute to curriculum development and extra-curricular design activities or clubsCollaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular initiatives and projectsAttend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and school eventsEnsure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all studentsSupport the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeingKey Skills:Excellent subject knowledge in Design TechnologySkilled in CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Fusion 360, SketchUp)Strong practical workshop skills and understanding of safety protocolsClassroom management and student engagement techniquesCreativity and innovation in lesson planningClear communication and interpersonal skillsDigital literacy and familiarity with EdTech toolsOrganisational and time management skillsTeam collaboration and cross-functional communicationCultural awareness and adaptability in an international setting
