
Assistant Resident Engineer (Roads)

- Assist the Resident Engineer in managing and supervising road construction activities, including earthworks, asphalt paving, road markings, signage, and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor and supervise the contractor’s work to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess the progress and quality of roadworks, identifying potential issues and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Review and approve road-related shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements submitted by contractors.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to resolve road-related conflicts and ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, project specifications, and international standards in all roadworks.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and progress updates.
- Assist in the preparation of road-related handover documentation, including as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Collaborate with the project management team to ensure that roadworks are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices on-site.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in road construction supervision, with a proven track record of working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of road construction methods, materials, and standards, including earthworks, asphalt paving, and road markings.
- Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting road-related drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Familiarity with local road regulations, standards, and international codes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and engage with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
- Must be MME certified.
- Experience working on infrastructure projects in Qatar or the GCC region.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address complex road-related challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Familiarity with sustainability and environmental practices in road design and construction.
