The candidate shall supply, install, operate, and maintain CATV systems and equipment, including the Govern- ment satellite cable network and FM Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS) radio broad- casts, and support the day-to-day technical operations of the CATV infrastructure. The contractor shall install, re- pair, and maintain CATV equipment and subsystem equipment, existing RG-6, RG-11, RG-59 cable, inter-facility fiber cable, junction boxes, and interface equipment. The contractor shall install inside cable plant coaxial cable to support expansion of the system including support to identify defective cable and replace and bury CATV cabling. The contractor shall support Commanders Access Channel, Force Protection Channel, and Morale Channel.
Primary and auxiliary CATV equipment includes:
a. Downlink antennas
b. Low Noise Block (LNB) downconverters
c. Signal monitors
d. Fiber optic distribution equipment
e. Video ticker system
f. PAL/NTSC converters
g. Audio/video modulators
h. RF splitters and combiners
i. Amplifiers
j. Decoders
Required Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Lead level of “hands on” work experience in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment. Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Personnel in this labor category are considered experts in the field. Lead level experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, alignments, testing, and troubleshooting of CATV broadcast receive equipment as specified in the task order to include:
- Downlink Antennas
- LNBs
- Decoders
- Modulators
- Signal Monitors
- Fiber optic distribution equipment
- Video ticker system
- Phase Alternating Line (PAL) Encoding System
