Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.RequirementsThe role, based in Doha, involves providing leadership to the Office of Student Development at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), overseeing the delivery of co-curricular programs, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support student development and align initiatives with student life goals.Key AccountabilitiesProvide leadership to the Office of Student Development to enhance the overall student experience and increase student success.Provide strategic direction to ensure effective delivery of high-quality, effective co-curricular programming, events, and activities that promote student engagement, leadership development, cultural enrichment, mental health, and personal growth.Collaborate with the office of faculty & academic affairs, administrative units, faculty, student organizations, and external stakeholders to support student development and ensure alignment with student life initiatives.Key ActivitiesOversee the delivery of a coherent set of co-curricular programs, services, and support including, but not limited, to: health and wellness, service learning, student clubs and organizations, student activities, code of student conduct , immigration and housing.Guide the development and implementation of assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of student life programs and services to enhance the student experience.Coordinate with Qatar Foundation and other partner universities on specific student-related issues, policies, programs, and initiatives.Encourage and champion initiatives aimed at fostering platforms that actively involve the student community, enabling them to express themselves through various mediums and channels.Coordinate student-related policies, and procedures, and best practices with the Georgetown University DC Campus.Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion through programming, training, and advocacy, ensuring that the campus environment is welcoming and supportive of students from diverse backgrounds.Conceptualize and supervise student-centered trips (e.g., service-learning trips) and develop a strategy for these trips in coordination with the University’s vision and mission.Serve as a conduit between the student body and the university administration.Oversee student disciplinary matters, and in coordination with the GU-Q Dean and the DC Campus, enforce sanctions on students found in violation of University policy.Oversee periodic assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of student life programs and services within the unit.Manage and oversee the work of direct reports, including setting and reviewing performance goals as well as identifying training and development needs.Liaise with Human Resources to manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding and off-boarding of staff.Teach courses from time-to-time where appropriate.Other similar duties as assigned.Knowledge and SkillsStrong understanding of student development theory and best practices in supporting student success.Understanding of both curricular and co-curricular programming.Proven ability to interact and influence at the most senior levels of an organization and to work collaboratively across departments, levels, and functions toward shared objectives.Demonstrated ability to put things in a larger context and exercise high levels of discretion and sound judgment.Outstanding interpersonal and consensus-building skills and ability to work with diverse individuals across various cultural and institutional environments.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of student life.QualificationsMaster’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, or a related field.Ph.D. in higher education administration, humanities or social sciences is a plus.Experience7+ years of relevant work experience (9+ for Associate).At least 5 years of experience in managing a team(s) of professionals.Previous experience in a senior leadership role within a higher education setting, preferably in student affairs.Experience in working with university academic and administrative departments, and developing and implementing academic policies and procedures.Expatriate Benefits
