Pearl GTL offers a dynamic setting where innovation and continuous improvement are part of everyday operations.The Electrical Technician will be a member of the Central electrical Engineering Team based in Rass Laffan Qatar, will report to Central Electrical Supervisor, responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities across the Pearl GTL Complex.The role ensures the availability, reliability, and integrity of electrical equipment and systems by executing maintenance tasks in accordance with approved strategies, procedures, and work instructions. To work in an environment that is challenging and encourages efficient work processes, through ownership at all levels, technical competence, continuous improvement, multi-disciplinary team working with delegated leadership.What you’ll be doingKey Responsibilities:Conduct testing, logic modification, and troubleshooting of protection relays.Perform HV/LV circuit breaker maintenance and testing.Carry out maintenance of HV transformers, including On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC).Execute primary and secondary current injections for electrical equipment testing.Perform maintenance and online health monitoring of HV generators and motors using IRIS Partial Discharge (PD) technique.Maintain and troubleshoot ABB low voltage control systems, including INSUM and MNS Digital systems.Maintain ABB HV switchboard.Maintain ABB 800XA system, Electrical network monitoring and control systemConduct HV cable testing, online using Prycam, offline using Megger VLF and Tan Delta methodsInspect and maintain Ex-rated (hazardous area) electrical installations.Establish materials and equipment required to complete correctly all allocated tasks.Conduct electrical inspections in compliance with IEC standards and area classification requirements.Participate in shutdown and on the run maintenance activities.Execute call out duties as required.Coordination with area maintenance teams and operation stakeholders.Perform maintenance of AC/DC UPS systems and batteries.Execute HV/LV switching operations safely and in accordance with procedures.Interpret and work with electrical power and control schematic drawings.Ensure full compliance with Shell’s Code of Conduct, Permit to Work system.What you bringThe candidate should have at least a Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with at least 6-8 years engineering/operations/ maintenance experience in either onshore or offshore facilities in oil and gas industries or Petrochemical Industry.Hands-on experience with HV/LV switchboard, HV generators, Motors, transformers and control panels troubleshooting and maintenance.Proficient in operating Megger and Omicron testing equipment for electrical diagnostics.Preferred to have CompEx certification for working on Ex-certified equipment.Preferred to have Hands-on experience in REF542+, REX series numerical protection relays, and performing PD & Tan Delta measurements on High voltage equipment and cables.Preferred to have Expertise in ABB/Hitachi PCM 600 and REF542+ FUPLA software tools.SAP/Primavera systems working skills for executing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols.Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural team.Fluency in written and spoken English.What we offerYou bring your skills and experience to Shell and in return you work with talented, committed people on one of the most important challenges facing our planet.
